CGB SVP, CTLC, Marine & Transportation Lance Rase recently joined Waterways Council, Inc. in Washington, D.C., to engage on key issues impacting our industry and to show support for Americaโ€™s inland waterways. Discussions focused on the condition of our aging locks and dams, the importance of responsible investment, and ensuring long-term reliability across the inland waterway system.

Inland waterways play a vital role in everyday life and in supporting a strong U.S. economy. Each year, more than 500 million tons of cargo move through these waterways, including a significant share of U.S. grain exports. Keeping this system reliable is essential to the strength and sustainability of our supply chains, communities, and the broader economy.

That reliability depends on steady leadership and sustained engagement. Leaders like Lance contribute valuable time and expertise to help educate policymakers and advocate for solutions that move our industry forward. From fair funding and putting already-allocated dollars to work, to avoiding added costs and congestion, itโ€™s the combined efforts of industry leaders and associations like WCI that help keep Americaโ€™s infrastructure working.
